This time 8 years ago I was just stepping out on my own – daunted by the prospect of not having the safety blanket of being an employee anymore (and gone was the company car, pension, healthcare etc. etc.) but despite some rocky times over the past 8 years I look back and feel proud of what I’ve achieved.

Needless to say a lot of what I do I don’t do alone and a huge thank you has to go to the team around me – I’ve met some incredibly talented people over the years and the fact that many of them have also gone on to take the plunge into self-employment has allowed me to pool that talent into powerful project teams for my clients.  We’ve managed to prove that you can deliver a full-service agency offering without the need for us to be in one place every day.  All hail the Internet and technology!

And, of course, I have to thank my clients for giving me the opportunity to work with them.  I love that I still grab the occasional lunch with one of my first clients (Julia – we’re due one soon!) and that many do become good friends as well as colleagues – work is much more enjoyable when you genuinely like the people you’re working with/for.
